Stop It® Provides Crude Oil Trunk Line Leak Repair Solutions in South America

Case Study

Stop It® Provides Crude Oil Trunk Line Leak Repair Solutions in South America

A crude oil manufacturing site in Colombia experienced high CO2 levels causing significant corrosion, leading to leaks and operational limitations. The project required a fast, cost-effective repair solution that could seal the leaks, provide mechanical strength, and minimize operational disruptions.

crude oil manufacturing site in Colombia - cost-effective repair solution

Problems

  1. High CO2 Presence: The primary problem was the presence of a high concentration of CO2 in the crude oil pipeline. This significantly increased the corrosion rate of the pipeline.
  2. Multiple Leaks: The increased corrosion led to multiple leaks, particularly at fitting connections and pipe girth welds. These leaks compromised the structural integrity of the pipeline.
  3. Operational Disruptions: The leaks caused operational disruptions, which resulted in loss of production and required costly repairs.

Project Needs

  • Quick and Cost-Effective Solution: A solution that could minimize production loss and repair expenses.
  • Effective Leak Sealing: Easy to use leak sealing capabilities with long-term leak prevention, even in harsh environments.
  • Mechanical Strength: Enhanced mechanical strength to ensure the long-term integrity of the pipeline.
  • Corrosion Resistance: Protection against further corrosion.
